Our client is one of the UK’s leading Defence companies! They are working on some fascinating contracts and they require an enthusiastic and driven Software Developer to join them on a permanent basis.

They are delivering military communication equipment and are looking for someone who can provide novel solutions to their expanding current and prospective customer base! Successful candidates will have strong experience in object-oriented Software Development, Computer Engineering and networks.

You will be responsible for delivering software development tasks with your customer-delivery-focussed team, to the Information Systems Solutions Manager.

Due to the nature of the work, you will be based full time on site in Gloucestershire, surrounded by likeminded individuals in an exciting and fast paced environment! Candidates will be willing to undergo DV clearance.

Key responsibilities
  • Delivering bespoke interfaces to external systems, data proxies and simulation systems
  • Take ownership of planning, developing and presenting proof of concept solutions to customers with support from a wider team when required
  • To show innovation based on new technologies to create bespoke solutions
  • To lead small delivery teams in addressing and presenting to customers and colleagues
  • To ensure projects are delivered on time, meeting cost and quality targets
  • Take ownership of issues to work diligently towards producing a solution
Skills & experience
  • You should have a solid background of object-oriented software development using either .Net, C# and/or Python is essential for this role.
  • You will also require experience of development of systems utilising technologies such as HTTP REST, XML, JSON; Databases such as SQLite, PostgreSQL.
  • Familiar with using and creating APIs, experience working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and working knowledge of TCP/IP networking including development for data exchange and transmission.
